Today is the last regular season game of the 2016 season for my beloved Longhorns. It could be the last game of the year, and it is probably the last game for coach Charlie Strong. It’s halftime and the game’s not going well so writing some thoughts!

It’s Black Friday and we’re running a sale over at my plugin marketplace Shop Plugins.

While I was watching the plethora of Black Friday sale emails coming in, two offers caught my eye because I’ve heard nothing but great things about these two courses so I went ahead and pulled the trigger and bought them.

Laracasts

Laracasts is a video course produced by Jeffrey Way that teaches ho to use the Laravel PHP framework. I’ve watched Jeffrey’s products since his days at Tuts+ and know that he’s got a gift for teaching technical topics. I’ve wanted to learn Laravel for a while to leverage my knowledge of PHP, but also expand outside of the WordPress bubble.

There is a whopping 159 hours of teaching available in the course so I bought a year of access to give me ample time to sink my teeth in.

React for Beginners

React for Beginners is a video course taught by Wes Bos. The course teaches Javascript, specifically building apps with React.js.

I asked my friend Brian if he recommended the course and he said “That course is awesome.” All of the buzz around this course has been positive.

I’m excited about both of these courses and glad to grab them when they are on sale!

Have you taken either of these courses? What are your thoughts about them?
